What is it?
It is often the case that a person's documents have different names, which can be because of a number of reasons: erroneous spelling, missing first or second name, additional names, a different name customarily used, etc. This can happen in many different scenarios, for everything from having your maiden name on your old school transcripts to your passport from your home country having a slightly different spelling than on your Canadian passport.
Different names can obviously cause confusion and misunderstanding as to whether a person referred in one document is the same person referred to in another document.
An Affidavit of One and the Same Person is a written document that can be provided to other individuals or organizations to help establish that the different names found on different documents refer to one person. A person (the Affiant) will have to execute an Affidavit of One and the Same Person in order to help establish that both documents, despite bearing a difference in names, refer to the same person.
